The Ministry of Education will host a high-level session titled “Pushing the Frontier of AI in India” at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, highlighting the country’s strategic push to integrate artificial intelligence across the education ecosystem.
The session will be attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State for Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Jayant Chaudhary, reflecting the government’s continued focus on AI-driven transformation in learning and skill development.
Aligning AI with National Education Goals
The initiative is aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the broader national objective of Viksit Bharat 2047. Over the past decade, the Ministry has progressively built foundations for AI-enabled education through:
-
National digital learning platforms
-
Institutional reforms
-
Policy frameworks
-
Capacity-building programmes
-
Research and innovation initiatives
These efforts span school education, higher education, vocational training, and advanced research ecosystems.
From Policy Vision to Scaled Implementation
Following last year’s Union Budget announcement, the government established a Centre of Excellence in AI for Education at Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The Ministry has also conducted extensive consultations with academia, industry leaders, civil society groups, and government institutions to develop a structured roadmap for AI adoption in education.
Recently, the Education Minister chaired the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026, bringing together AI startup founders and sector experts to discuss responsible integration of emerging technologies into classrooms and training systems.
The upcoming summit session will focus on moving beyond policy discussions toward large-scale implementation by leveraging:
-
Public digital infrastructure
-
AI Centres of Excellence
-
Teacher training initiatives
-
Curriculum integration
-
Partnerships with industry and startups
Distinguished Panel of Leaders
The session will feature prominent figures from academia, industry, and the investment ecosystem, including:

Rajan Anandan, Managing Director, Peak XV Partners
-
Manindra Agrawal, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
-

The session will be moderated by Manoj S. Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu.
Focus Areas of Discussion
The panel will examine how governance frameworks, indigenous AI innovation, national learning platforms, and responsible deployment of advanced AI models are converging to reshape education outcomes in India.
The emphasis will be on systemic reforms rather than isolated pilot projects, demonstrating how policy, institutions, and technology can be aligned to deliver sustainable and nationwide impact.
A Long-Term Strategic Push
The session reflects India’s broader ambition to develop sovereign AI capabilities while strengthening human capital. By embedding AI into educational infrastructure, the Ministry aims to prepare learners for emerging job markets, enhance research capacity, and ensure equitable access to advanced technologies.
As India advances toward its long-term development goals, AI-enabled education is positioned as a central pillar in building a skilled, innovation-driven economy.
